About Tanya Martin
I am an Internet geek. who has  been working on websites since 1998. In December 2003 I started feeling like I had a flu that was not going away, I went to my Nurse Practitioner who diagnosed me with some type of arthritis. I started some physical and massage therapy but still was not feeling any better. A few months later I talked to my sister on the phone and she asked me to go see her specialist. She was already dealing with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Our mother also had Rheumatoid Arthritis. So I went to the Rheumatoid Arthritis specialist and began a treatment for arthritis. I really didn’t feel much better. I was tired all the time and stiff. About a year later I started taking Disease Modifying Antirheumatic Drugs (DMARDs).  With this I thought I was seeing some improvement but shortly after getting off of prednisone I would flare again.

In April of 2007 the doctor added Biologic Response Modifiers to my treatment plan. Finally I was seeing much more improvement in my daily life. At this time I was on Arava, Enbrel injections weekly and folic acid. I still noticed feeling wiped out and in December of 2007 started B12 shots every 7 to 10 days, since then I have felt pretty good with just a few bumps in the road.

Update: Currently out of “remission” and looking forward to having less bumps in the road again soon.

My Rheumatoid Arthritis Stats

Rheumatoid Arthritis since Dec 2003, currently on Cimzia monthly, Meloxicam, Arava, Ambien CR, Vitamin D3 daily and B12 shots weekly. Also take Zyrtec for allergies. First remission was with Enbrel and Arava from April 2007 through September 2010 with a few bumps in the road (remission does not mean free of all pain, stiffness and swelling, but to me more like a headache once in awhile and not on a daily or weekly basis). No Prednisone since July 25, 2007
