    Keywords That Convert

    Keywords are the #1 aspect of search engine optimization. Keyword research is vital to a website from its creation. Before launching any website, you should know what keywords the site is targeting. Of course you should also be adjusting these targeted keywords if your not converting the traffic.

    Keywords that convert are your most vaulable keywords.
    Everyone wants to rank high for those hard to get keywords. When people ask me what type of rankings I have, they don’t want to hear I have 50 rankings for terms that have around 100,000 results. They want to hear that I have front page listing for keywords that have 50 million to 370 million results. Which I do just for them. But honestly they don’t convert anywhere close to the ones that have less competition and are more targeted to convert.


    Targeted Keywords
    When choosing keywords to target, many times general keywords do not convert as well as very targeted keywords. What is the difference? A general keyword is a common keyword. A well targeted keyword is setup to make the sale.  Here is an example:

    Today I want to purchase a new plasma tv. I search Google for plasma tv’s. There are many sites that come up for plasma tv’s, but I know I want a Sony 42" KE-42XS910 Plasma TV. This is a major purchase that I have been thinking about for awhile. So of course I have already decided on what I want to buy.

    While plasma tv’s seems like a great keyword, it has 3 million search results. It isn’t very specific and less likely to make the sale.

    Now Sony 42" KE-42XS910 Plasma TV is really specific. As a buyer I know exactly what I want. The results only have 25,500. A lot less competition and a higher chance of the traffic converting.
